These outstanding limited edition Two Towers First Day Covers commemorate J.R.R. These First Day Cover (FDC) envelopes which all feature the steps of Meduseld design measure 4.72 H x 8.07 W inches; 120 x 205 mm and the set of six comes in a clear, archival quality protective sleeve. Each set includes a full-colour ‘Two Towers’ brochure containing background information on both this Dec. 4, 2002 stamp release and seven year movie production it honours. Issue date: 4 December 2002 (12/4/02).

NEW ZEALAND POST'S 4th December 2002 ‘The Two Towers’ philatelic issue is the second stamp release officially licensed by New Line Cinema and approved by the film’s director, Peter Jackson. Designed by Sacha Lees at Weta Workshop - the same team nominated for three Academy Awards and winner of two prestigious BAFTA Awards - now out of print (OOP), these limited edition Two Towers Miniature Sheet First Day Covers represent a wonderful opportunity to commemorate this huge cinematic undertaking. Also an earlier now OOPThe Fellowship of the Ring’ set was issued in December 2001 and a third ‘The Return of the King’ set was released in November 2003 to commemorate ‘The Lord of the Rings’ movie trilogy. These six Two Towers FDC envelopes feature Éowyn on the steps of Meduseld in Edoras, each affixed with one of six distinct ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ miniature sheet stamps with first day cancellation postmark.

Miniature Sheets: Regular perforated stamps set in an attached illustrated panel showing the origin of the stamp, each of which are derived from key scenes in ‘The Two Towers’ motion picture.

First Day Covers: Pictorial envelopes which are issued and stamped with a specifically-designed cancellation postmark that is only used for that day and issue. The cancellation stamp for these Two Towers First Day Covers is a stylized One Ring encircled by the words ‘The Two Towers, First Day of Issue, 4 December 2002, Stamps Centre Wanganui New Zealand’. First Day Covers are very collectable since they are sometimes difficult to obtain after issuance. This issue was only released in New Zealand and sold out quickly.
