Three Miniature Sheets sets from New Zealand featuring crucial moments and principal characters from Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lord of The Rings’ movies based on JRR Tolkien’s timeless Middle-Earth classics. Popular with collectors, LotR miniature sheets are stamps displayed in an attached illustrated panel showing the origin of each stamp, which are derived from key scenes and moments in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
Released December 2001 these six Fellowship Miniature Sheet stamps introduce key characters and scenes from award winning ‘Fellowship of the Ring’ movie. Each Miniature Sheet measures 2.56 H x 4.53 W inches; 65 x 115 mm. Issue date: 4 December 2001 (12/4/01).

Second release of six official commemorative Miniature Sheet stamps portray pivotal scenes from award winning ‘Two Towers’ motion picture. These Miniature Sheets measure 2 1/2 H x 4 1/2 W inches; 65 x 115 mm. Stamps are all based on images captured by official New Line photographer Pierre Vinet. Issue date: 4 December 2002 (12/4/02).

Set features - 40 cent: Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), 80 cent: Frodo Baggins (Elijah Woods) enters spider’s den, 90 cent: Hobbits Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) must remain strong at heart, $1.30: King Elessar (Viggo Mortensen) leads Armies of the West against Sauron’s hordes, $1.50: Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen) the White - Istari warrior wizard, $2.00: Gollum (Andy Serkis) on trail of "my preciousss".
Each Lord of the Rings stamp issue consists of six basic stamp designs in 40 cent, 80 cent, 90 cent, $1.30, $1.50, and $2.00 denominations; each design is available in both gummed and self-adhesive versions which differ in size, cropping and composition.
Miniature sheet stamps for the first two releases were designed by Sacha Lees at Peter Jackson’s Weta Workshop - one of the same Miramar, Wellington, NZ based team nominated for three Academy Awards and winner of two prestigious BAFTA Awards; Return of the King were designed by Frans Lenzen. Each set comes in a clear, archival quality protective sleeve, and includes a bonus collectible Lord of the Rings official stamps brochure containing background information on these stamp releases and epic movies they honour. Officially licensed by New Line Productions these stamps sold out faster than anticipated; stock of some items is extremely limited.
