EACH OF THESE officially authorized Lord of the Rings stamps issues feature a different set of six postage stamps portraying key characters and scenes from Peter Jackson’s The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King movies. Overall design for the Fellowship of the Rings and Two Towers stamps was by Sacha Lees and for Return of the King by Frans Lenzen with approval of Peter Jackson; source images used for stamps are from New Line’s official Lord of the Rings stills photographer Pierre Vinet.
Each Lord of the Rings stamp issue consists of six basic stamp designs in 40 cent, 80 cent, 90 cent, $1.30, $1.50, and $2.00 denominations; each design released in both gummed and self-adhesive versions which differ in cropping and composition. The Lord of the Rings gummed stamps are also available in individual souvenir (miniature) sheets showing the original scene from the related part of the motion picture trilogy.
