These magnificent Two Towers FDCs which are much in demand by collectors, pay tribute to The Lord of The Rings trilogy and explore J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic Middle-Earth saga in a manner that movie enthusiasts, stamp lovers, and fans will enjoy and appreciate.
CONTAINING TWO PICTURESQUE Two Towers First Day Covers, one a Ruins of Isengard envelope affixed with Self Adhesives, and a second Rohirrim Retreat to Helm’s Gate design with Gummed stamps showing pivotal characters from The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers movie. Each envelope features different motif and was available separately or as set; they include Two Towers brochure containing background information on both this Dec. 4, 2002 stamp release and epic movie it honours. NEW ZEALAND POST'S 2002 The Two Towers philatelic issue is the only stamp release officially licensed by New Line Cinema and approved by the film’s director, Peter Jackson, and was released with their total cooperation and blessing. Designed by Sacha Lees at Weta Workshop - the same team nominated for three Academy Awards and winner of two prestigious BAFTA Awards - now out of print (OOP), these limited edition Two Towers First Day Covers represent a wonderful opportunity to commemorate this huge cinematic undertaking. Also an earlier now OOP ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ set was issued in December 2001 and a third ‘The Return of the King’ set was released in November 2003 to commemorate ‘The Lord of the Rings’ movie trilogy.

Isengard First Day Cover with full set of self-adhesive 2002 Two Towers stamps postmarked on the first day of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers stamp issue. Envelope depicts the beauty of Isengard transformed into a wasteland under Saruman. Self-adhesives stamps are smaller (1 x 1 1/2 inches; 26 x 37 mm) than the gummed stamps ( 1 x 2 inches; 25 x 50 mm), and appear more naturally framed being closer to the traditional portrait ratio than the landscape one used for the gummed series.

Rohirrim First Day Cover featuring a complete set (40c, 80c, 90c, $1.30, $1.50, and $2.00) of gummed 2002 Two Towers stamps with identical cancellation postmarks to the self-adhesive envelope below. This FDC envelope, which features refugees from Rohan trekking to Helm’s Deep, is also included in the deluxe Presentation Pack folio set.
First Day Covers: These are pictorial envelopes which are issued and stamped with a specifically-designed Two Towers cancellation postmark that is only used for that day and issue. The cancellation stamp for these Two Towers First Day Covers is a stylized One Ring encircled by the words The Two Towers, First Day of Issue, 4 December 2002, Stamps Centre Wanganui New Zealand. First Day Covers are very collectable since they are hard to obtain after issuance. This issue was only released in New Zealand and sold out quickly.
