Each set includes 18 Two Towers stamps in the form of: First Day Cover with complete gummed stamp set and (December 4, 2002) cancellation postmarks, a complete self-adhesive Stamps Set with ‘Two Towers’ logos and a complete set of six Miniature Sheets featuring crucial scenes from the awards-winning ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ movie.

THE NEW ZEALAND Post 2002 philatelic release of ‘The Two Towers’ was the only stamp issue endorsed by the film’s director, Peter Jackson and officially licensed by New Line Productions. Exclusively designed by Sacha Lees at Weta Workshop - the same team nominated for three Academy Awards and winner of two prestigious BAFTA Awards - this limited edition 2002 Presentation Pack represent a superb and unique opportunity to commemorate their monumental movie achievement.

THESE LIMITED EDITION Two Towers Presentation Packs were only marketed in NZ so don’t delay too long or you may be disappointed. Also an earlier now OOPThe Fellowship of the Ring’ Presentation Pack was issued in December 2001 and a third ‘The Return of the King’ Presentation Pack was released in November 2003 to commemorate ‘The Lord of the Rings’ movie trilogy. We will also be offering occasional ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ First Day Miniature Covers, Stamp Booklet and Maximum Postcards - either purchase direct or check our regular auctions.

ALL ITEMS ARE new and individually mounted inside archival-quality clear pouches permitting easy removal, and the triple-fold Presentation Pack folder is sealed in a heavy-duty clear protective slipcase. The Two Towers Presentation Pack also provides detailed information about the official ‘Two Towers’ 2002 stamp issue, as well as the characters and motion picture it honours. Front cover features an embossed silhouette of The Fellowship ready for battle against a brown background, with the Official Movie logo and large One Ring set above in gold and brown. Presentation Pack measures 8 1/4 H x 28 3/8 W inches; 21 x 72 cm when fully open, and folds down to 8 1/4 H x 9 1/2 W inches; 21 x 24 cm. Sheet with complete set of 2002 Two Towers self-adhesive stamps and official ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ logo. Self-adhesives are a different size (1 x 1 1/2 inches; 26 x 37 mm) and aspect ratio than the gummed stamps (1 x 2 inches; 25 x 50 mm).

Envelope depicts refugees from Rohan trekking to the hopeful safety of Helm’s Deep, and includes a complete set of gummed 2002 Two Towers stamps postmarked on the first day of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ stamp issue. Note: two other FDC envelope designs are available with: self-adhesive and miniature sheets affixed.

A formation of Haradrim soldiers who march under the banner of a black serpent. Many races are represented in Sauron’s armies of the Third Age, including the savage people of the East or ‘Easterlings’.

Frodo (Elijah Woods) and Sam are captured by Faramir (younger brother of Boromir) putting their mission to destroy the One Ring in imminent danger. They must journey deep inside Mordor to destroy the Ruling Ring of the Dark Lord in the fires of Mount Doom from whence it was forged.

Éowyn, the White Lady of Rohan, on the steps of Meduseld watching as her people march to the redoubt of Helm’s Deep. She must weigh her feelings for Aragorn, the ranger from the far north, with the burden of her office and responsibility to the Rohirrim nation in these perilous times.

Miniature Sheets: Regular perforated stamps set in an attached illustrated panel showing the origin of the stamp, each of which are derived from key scenes in ‘The Two Towers’ motion picture.

First Day Covers: Pictorial envelopes which are issued and stamped with a specifically-designed cancellation postmark that is only used for that day and issue. The cancellation stamp for this First Day Cover is a stylized One Ring encircled by the words ‘The Two Towers, First Day of Issue, 4 December 2002, Stamps Centre Wanganui New Zealand’. First Day Covers are very collectable since they can be hard to obtain after issuance. This issue was only released in New Zealand and sold out quickly.

Additional Info: Loose gummed and self-adhesive stamps are unhinged mint (UHM), and First Day Covers (FDC) are unaddressed. Technical details are available.
