Beautiful limited edition New Zealand picture Maximum Postcards that commemorate Peter Jackson’s epic ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’ movie. Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, these maximum cards pay tribute to and explore his immortal Middle Earth saga in a manner that film enthusiasts, stamp collectors, and fans will appreciate for years to come.

THIS LIMITED SET of six Maximum Postcards featuring key characters and scenes from ‘Return of the King’ movie, with related gummed stamps and first day (Nov 5, 2003) cancellation postmark. Now out of print (OOP), these Official Postcards were only sold in New Zealand. Postcards size: 4.13 H x 5.7 W inches; 105 x 145 mm. Issue date: 5 November 2003.

Postcards - 40 cent: Legolas (Orlando Bloom) fighting, 80 cent: Frodo (Elijah Woods) journeys deep underground, 90 cent: Hobbits Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd), $1.30: Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) mighty warrior King, $1.50: Gandalf the White - fighting wizard, $2.00: Gollum (Andy Serkis) seeks “my precious”.

Maxi cards and stamps were designed by Frans Lenzen with original images from New Line’s photographer Pierre Vinet. Set comes in a clear, archival-quality protective sleeve, and includes collectible NZ Post pamphlet containing extensive background information on both this exciting stamp release and the epic production it honours. Two earlier, now OOP sets of Maximum Cards were released to commemorate the ‘Middle earth’ movie trilogy: ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ set was issued in December 2001, and ‘The Two Towers’ set was issued in December 2002.
