Perfect for wall mounting or framing, we offer a selection of six Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey sheets of 25 gummed stamps each featuring key characters issued to commemorate director Peter Jackson’s highly successful films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. These highly-collectible authorized FotR philatelic sheets are ideal for framing 'as is' or alternately available in sets of six stamp strips. They explore Professor Tolkien’s immortal Middle-earth saga and pay tribute in a manner that film enthusiasts, stamp collectors, and fans alike will appreciate and enjoy.
EACH SHEET INCLUDES a different stamp design featuring key characters and scenes from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King movies. Available in denominations of 70c, $1.40, $1.90, $2.10, $2.40, and $2.90, each sheet of 25 stamps (five rows by five columns) measures 11 x 6 1/8 inches; 28 x 15.5 cm and is bordered by a decorative gutter strip (selvage) which differs between the three commemorative issues. These Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Stamp Sheets were only issued and marketed in New Zealand for a short time before they sold out.

DESIGNED AT WETA Workshop in Wellington by Sacha Lees, each stamp set includes a full-colour brochure containing extensive background information on these exciting stamp releases and the epic movies they honour. The New Zealand Post 2001 philatelic release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was the only stamp issue endorsed by the film’s director, Peter Jackson and officially licensed by New Line Productions.

Since these Stamp Sheets were only marketed in New Zealand and sold out earlier than anticipated supply is restricted to that on hand - don’t delay too long or you may be disappointed. They've already become increasingly desirable, scarce and expensive as more The Lord of the Rings fans and collectors discover them.

Fellowship Stamp Sheets: Released in gummed sheets of 25 in standard values of 70c, $1.40, $1.90, $2.10, $2.40 and $2.90 on December 4, 2001 to commemorate The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. They were only marketed in New Zealand to honour Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Ring film trilogy and most NZ postal centres sold out quicker than anticipated as these were popular stamps for Christmas and New Year mailing. Additional sets featuring key characters and scenes were released to coincide with The Two Towers and The Return of the King.
